The Golf Tournament is Over, and the Results are...

There is so much to talk about today that I don't know where to start! It has been a whirlwind weekend. Thursday night was sushi with my girls from work, much needed and very yummy! Friday night our long-time friends Jeff and Dusty from Fishing Ammo were on the TV show Shark Tank, and we went to their premiere party celebration- Go Fishing Ammo! They did great and we are so proud of them and their spirit :)

Saturday morning was an early wake-up call for our "Moreland Family Adoption Golf Fundraiser Tourney". I know, it's a mouthful! We had an amazing turn-out, praise the Lord, because we have been planning it since 2012 and started sign-ups in January. To be honest, I am so very glad it is over with- it felt like we were planning a mini-wedding with all of the details and RSVP's, etc. It was extremely time-consuming but very well worth it... All in all after everything was paid for and completed we brought home $5235.00!!! There is no way we could have raised that money any other way. The purpose also was to get donations while people had a chance to have fun, which I think we accomplished. I've included some of the pictures, but feel free to go over to our photo site from the tournament to check out all the pictures:

We had a great time, and we were surrounded by our family and friends on a beautiful Florida morning. What more could you ask for? There were 66 golfers and 10 volunteers helping us out. If anyone wants more information on how we went about planning and carrying out this monstrous event, message me for details. Just, maybe wait a few weeks until I can function normally again ;)

Pictures from the tournament:
The whole group prior to our shotgun start
My photographer (and best friend!)'s husband getting ready to tee off.

We couldn't have had better weather!

All of our signs were donated by a friend that David works with. They were professional and fantastic!
The beautiful greens of Grande Pines golf course in Orlando.

Some of our great golfers- Elizabeth even won the prize for closest to the pin :)

Our friends and our family came out to golf with us!

Just one of our amazing raffle prizes: Signed Golf Flag by none other than Mr. Arnold Palmer!

Each hole had a hole sponsor, some even had a few. This sponsor was actually a tribute to David's late friend Howard <3

These four right here are trouble with a capital "T" ;)
More signs, all courtesy of ProGraphics.

Having fun while raising money, so great!

So, while some of our husbands played, we sat in the shade and told stories, cracking each other up for hours! I love my friends and family :)

My first count of money collected for raffles and mulligans. I was slightly excited!

Austin explaining how the putting contest works. "You putt it in the hole, it's not that hard!"
To end the crazy weekend we have had, today I co-hosted a baby shower for a good friend from work. It was super fun with mega-yummy cake pops and was filled with tiny baby girl outfits that were to die for :) I don't know if I'm going to have a shower yet for our little China doll, but I do know it won't be until we know how old she is. But at today's shower I started to get super excited to meet her! And all of the other little ones coming soon- so many people surrounding me are pregnant I'm afraid to drink the water! I could handle another pregnancy (barely), and I can handle this adoption, but I could not handle both at the same time, let's be realistic ;) So I'm happy for them and the fact that they are entering their 3rd trimesters, and I am happy to be entering mine as well- just via paperwork :)

PS: My husband just realized yesterday that X's are kisses and O's are hugs in print. OMG what am I going to do with him??

Week in Review

This week has been pretty crazy.. Austin turned 8! We took him to Epcot (thanks to my good friends for getting us in!!) and got a great Disney hotel deal on Groupon for the weekend. We may have gone a little overboard, but the thinking was that this would be his last birthday as an only child and we really wanted to celebrate Mr. Austin :) We had a great time! We looked for a present for his little sister when we were in Epcot's China, didn't find much but it really made us excited to actually go to China the country! Before now I've been really anxious about that trip, mostly because there are so many unknowns. I hate plane rides- that one is a doozy. My stomach does not handle travel or new foods well- I've heard most of the bathrooms are holes in the ground. Is this true?? Not quite sure what to think about that LOL. Not a good combo for a girl with IBS ;) But I'm trusting things will go smoothly because this is the path we are supposed to take.

Yesterday we had all of our Dossier documents notarized. It took surprisingly little time considering the months it has taken me to gather up all of these documents!! So now they are in a folder awaiting our final version of the home study. Once we have that, off they go to be sealed by the lovely state of Florida and off we send our I-800A to get our FBI fingerprinting appointment! Then I will really feel like things are moving. Can't wait!!

Until then, thanks for reading!!

Epcot just happened to have the
Flower & Garden Festival...
Tower of Terror. After Austin got of the
ride he says "I am finally a MAN!" :)

We found a really good French beer
in France. Like, really good!

Just call me Mrs. Slacker

Well, I must start out by saying my bad! I haven't posted anything since January. I'm a bad blogger! Mainly there has been nothing new to report. Home study was finished in December, but it has to be approved at many different levels and each person needs some tiny piece of information to add to it. Ugh. So finally it is now at the China team level, and they requested a psychological profile due to our history of loss. Ugh again. We completed our testing and counseling last week (567 questions each, plus around 1000 more un-planned dollars), and now we wait again for the completion of the home study. I'm so disheartened at times with how slow things are going! So I put it out of my mind, and therefore I don't blog.

It is helpful though to see other friends at different stages of starting and adding to their families every day. Right now I have several close friends who are pregnant, one that just had a healthy beautiful baby, and I'm following a mutual friend who is currently in China picking up her own little doll! So, things do happen. Just in their own sweet time.

In the meantime, I've been decorating our little girl's room (pics to come, I promise!), I've been working on adding items to my Etsy store, and there has been no lack of fun things to do with friends. In the past few weeks I've been in my sister-in-law's wedding, went to 2 baby showers, a bachelorette weekend, and a bridal shower, and there are 3 more showers coming up. It's crazy times ahead I'm telling you! So while I try to keep busy, I will be updating my blog with any new information about our adoption as it comes along. Believe me, I will be shouting from the mountaintops (if there were any in Florida... maybe I will go to Mount Dora) when I get any new and exciting news. Until then, check out my Etsy store :)

Thanks for reading!!
