12 days till travel!

Well it's been complete craziness here in the Moreland household ever since Monday! There's been a lot of packing/ repacking/ shopping/ nesting/ cleaning/ preparing/ freaking out going on ever since we got the news from our agency that we not only received our travel invitation, but our appointment with the Chinese consulate for Emily's Visa will be on 12/17!! That means we leave in less than 12 days to go get our daughter! Eeekkkk!!!! :D

Here is a very brief sample itinerary for our trip:
12/4 leave FL for Beijing by way of Newark, arrive around 3PM 12/5 in Beijing (due to the 12 hour time difference)
Stay in Beijing to sight-see and get acclimated to the different time zone from 12/5-12/8
Arrive in Emily's province Shandong on 12/8 via train, and we get our girl!!! <3 <3
Stay in province from 12/8-12/13
Arrive in Guangzhou 12/13 via airplane
Stay in Guangzhou 12/13-12/18: Visa appointments and medical exams
Leave for Hong Kong after picking up Emily's Visa 12/18 in the afternoon, stay one night in HK
Fly from HK back to FL 12/19!

Sounds simple right?? ;)

If you want to be updated every step along the way of our trip, be sure to follow the blog or our facebook page where we will be posting pictures and daily updates from China!

Otherwise, there are some really big days we could use some extra prayers from the states: 12/4 and 12/19 when we are traveling (I hate flying. Like, hate it.). Also 12/8 when we get Emily: I'm sure that day we will all be a ball of nerves. Please pray that she accepts us as her new family! I know it will take some time and there will be many tears involved. We are taking this tiny 2-year-old away from the only family/home she has ever known, into a world with new sights, sounds, smells, a different language, and a set of 3 complete strangers!! Pray for healing of her past and understanding that we are only here to give her a better future, and to love her and shower her with affection!

Well it's time to pack some more and maybe rearrange a few more cabinets before letting a toddler back into the house!

Thank you so much for following with us on our journey!

A quick prayer request...

For those on Facebook tonight that might be up to see this, I'm sending out a prayer request for us. Everything is ok, I will preface it with that!  However,  we are waiting on our travel invitation (or travel approval,  TA) from China and things aren't going as we had hoped.
Originally David and I thought we would be traveling around thanksgiving, as our letter of acceptance came quickly and the rest of the paperwork seemed to follow suit. We heard from our agency that they actually send their families in groups, averaging about 1 group a month, and the next one won't go until December 5. This was a bummer, especially because we would be gone over my birthday and return just days before Christmas. But we realized that as long as we were home with Emily for Christmas then we would be happy!

Today marks day 8 of our TA wait with no news and now there are major rumors flying around that the Chinese govt. might be closing for a good portion of December. They will already be closed several weeks in January for Chinese New Year. They are the ones that finalize the adoption and issue your child's visa to come to the US. If they are closed,  ain't nothin gonna happen. Your appointment with the consulate determines all the dates of your travel.

I'm trying not to panic, but some agencies have actually already called off some of their December travel groups because of the lack of available appointments. So please, pray that we get our TA ASAP. Pray that when it does come there are still consulate appointments left. Pray that above all else, we get our little girl home by Christmas. Because honestly, this momma's heart can't take another holiday with a piece of it half a world away!

The picture is us just now, recording our voices in a storybook to send to Emily. The Wizard of Oz, there's no place like home.
